DIGESTIVE PROBLEMS. HOW TO HELP HEAL THEM

Indigestion is the most common illness affecting human beings. The first commandment of eating is: Thou shalt not poison thyself. We are not what we eat, but the nutrients we digest, absorb, assimilate and utilize. To eat is heavenly, to digest, absorb, assimilate and utilize, is divine. Nutritional deficiencies create imbalances in body chemistry. The continued use of refined foods, overeating, eating wrong combinations of foods, eating foods that are too cold or too hot, eating when emotionally upset, use of condiments, overwork, loss of sleep, lack of rest with the eyes closed, stimulation and food deficiencies, etc., all contribute to the debilitated state that ultimately result in gastrointestinal disorders.
All diseases of the gastrointestinal tract arise from a condition of severe toxicosis. The digestive tract, gastointestinal tract or alimentary canal, is a 25-30 feet long tube that begins with the mouth and ends with the anus. It includes the mouth, esophagus, stomach, duodenum, small intestine and the colon, which is also called the large intestine. The liver and pancreas aid in digestion, but are not part of the digestive tract. The purpose of digestion is to take the food that is eaten and break it down into nutrients-basic materials that the body can use. The food eaten can be classified into groups of nutrients such as: starch, sugar, fat, protein, minerals and vitamins.
If one has indigestion, one should completely avoid all food, juices, coffee, tea, cocoa, herbs, vitamins, supplements, alcohol, tobacco, marijuana and narcotics, except the drinking of as much water as to satisfy one's thirst. Diet is not everything. With indigestion, avoid the emotional stress of worry, anxiety, fear and depression.
Avoid colonics, enemas and cathartics (laxatives). Contrary to common belief, there is no hardened caked-on crust of toxic waste materials lining the colon which can only be removed by enemas and/or colonics. Completely avoid the current orthodox digestive problem medical treatment of drugs and surgery.
Indigestion requires physiologically resting the digestive tract, i.e., water fasting. One ideally water fasts, by abstaining from all activities, lying down, closing one's eyes and feelingly meditating on one's symptoms until one is asymptomatic.
When one breaks one's water fast, i.e., when one eventually becomes asymptomatic, and one begins to eat, eat correctly. Never do anything that does not improve one. Do not do things from which one must recover. Eat only when one is genuinely hungry, not just because Dr. Ivan Pavlov has rung the bell. Eat correctly, preferably raw, unprocessed foods with adequate calories, that you enjoy eating. Begin digestion in the mouth with the mechanical breakdown of food via chewing and with the help of the tongue mixed with saliva. Saliva is produced by salivary glands in the mouth and cheeks. Saliva moistens and lubricates the food mass. This salivary enzymatic secretion promotes the first of several chemical reactions that convert food into usable nutrients. During chewing, food reaches a temperature suitable for digestion. The food we eat, is broken down by digestive juices into small, absorbable nutrients that generate the energy required to maintain life, replace the cells that are constantly dying and to keep us functioning.
Enzymatic secretion dysfunction is a major cause of indigestion. Digestive enzymes act solely at the surface of food particles. The rate of digestion is related directly to the extent to which food is masticated. Saliva contains the enzymes salivary amylase and lingual lipase that begin the process of breaking down starch and fat. Do not swallow any food until one has derived all the pleasurable taste from the food one is eating.
Close one's eyes and feelingly meditate on the maximum pleasurable taste of the food in one's mouth before swallowing such food. To put the fire out before it begins, correct your lifestyle, mentality and spirituality. No recovery of health is possible so long as digestive problems remain. Remove these causes and provide the disabled digestive tract with a much needed physiological rest, a water fast with eyes closed, and the digestive tract will repair its damages, recuperate its forces and begin to function normally again. Progressive resistance exercise, fresh air and sunbathing, poised mental atmosphere, adequate sleep and closing the eyes as often as possible, all help immensely in preventing digestive problems.
